Happy End

NI National Theatre of Bitola, Macedonia, presents
Happy End

Happy EndThis play by Iddo Netanyahu presents the atmosphere of a period seemingly far from ours: Berlin of the 1930s. The pre-WWII Weimar Republic found Berlin a lively cultural center. A liberal and well-off Jewish family is immersed in an “enthralling world of ideas” and refuses to see the danger lurking just around the corner. The characters are absorbed in their inner struggles and family drama, with unending deliberations about whether to stay or leave while coping with existential questions about freedom of choice and a passion for life.

The dramatic conflict in the play focuses on significant questions for modern man – the interpretation of reality beyond the individual’s life and perception of one’s life. The long-term results demonstrate a lack of understanding or unwillingness to comprehend a given situation, and how this affects life’s processes and how we lead our lives within a bubble, unable to find an adequate response to the reality surrounding us.
